We're excited to provide online, self-directed learning for pharmacists, as party of the HEPReady® suite of workforce training.

The training will provide pharmacists with the information and confidence to encourage your customers who may be at risk of viral hepatitis to be tested or treated as appropriate, and to do so in a safe and non-discriminatory manner.

This activity has been accredited for 2 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 2 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to 2 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 4 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.

Hepatitis B for Pharmacists

  • Explain how hepatitis B is transmitted
  • Identify the communities at risk of contracting hepatitis B
  • Explain how hepatitis B is managed
  • Describe the vaccine process for hepatitis B prevention
  • Explain why treatment adherence is necessary
  • Describe the epidemiology of hepatitis B
  • Identify the barriers to viral hepatitis testing and treatment prevalent in migrant, refugee and visa holder communities

Hepatitis C for Pharmacists

  • Explain how hepatitis C is transmitted
  • Identify the communities at risk of contracting hepatitis C
  • List the new treatments for hepatitis C genotypes
  • Describe the treatment cure rates, side effects and contra-indications
  • Explain why treatment adherence is necessary
  • Explain the high incidence and prevalence of hepatitis C on people who inject drugs
  • Explain the role of the Needle and Syringe Program
